1m Florida holiday makers ride Harry Potter 'robocoaster'

Over one million Florida holiday makers have ridden the main rollercoaster at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando since the theme park opened.

This is according to new figures from Universal Orlando Resort, which show that the milestone was passed just 60 days after the attraction flung open its doors to the public in mid-June.

The ride, entitled Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, was described by Leigh Caldwell of Gadling as a "robocoaster".

"Riders sit in robotic arms that are held above a track that moves along through the ride," she explains, adding: "Riders fly around Hogwarts castle, meet up with a band of dementors and even get caught up in a quidditch match."

The theme park was launched on June 18th with a star-studded ceremony featuring Harry Potter film actors such as Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Michael Gambon.

It is one of the many attractions that can be visited by those on Orlando villa holidays, with other sights including Disneyworld and the city of Orlando itself.
