The town itself has a population of only just over 500, and village life centres around a small square, offering basic local facilities such as a bakery, shop, and two bar/restaurants. The nearest supermarket can be found in the nearby town of Nevic, just seven kilometres away. Grignols is around 25 kilometres away from the regional capital of Perigueux, whilst Bergerac, Montignac, Les Eyzies, Sarlat-le-Caneda and Beynac are all within driving distance. This makes Grignols an ideal base for exploring the area.

Issigeac is to the south-east of Bergerac in the Perigord Pourpre region. The current town was largely built in the middle-ages, with buildings from the 13-16th century though its origins are much earlier. There are signs of pre-historic life, it was the site of a Roman Villa and in the 10th century there was a monastery here. Home to a weekly food market, where you can sample locally produced foods and mix with the locals. During July and August the weekly Marché nocturne (night market) takes place, typical of many local villages in the area, with various food stalls and tables set out in the town square in front of the church, offering a fantastic atmosphere.

A small hamlet, located to the east of the central town of Perigueux, Le Change is very rural, and would suit those wanting a very French countryside retreat.
