Villa in Cyprus 'perfect for older tourists'
Older people who want to get away from it all for a week or two should consider a stay at a villa in Cyprus, if one publication is to be believed.
The Cyprus Mail reports the ancient city of Paphos attracts thousands of tourists aged over 55 from across Europe each year.
A special scheme for residents of the European Union is in operation to make it easy for those of advancing years to have a good time on the Mediterranean islands and - in particular - in Paphos.
Approximately 600 people arrived in the country last week to kick off the project, with bosses believing it could lead to year-round tourism in Cyprus.
"We are hoping that this may encourage some restaurants to remain open during the winter period this year," Paphos Tourism Board director Nasos Hadjigeorgiou tells the newspaper.
Last month, Mandy Wilks, penning a piece for Helium magazine, said people should visit Cyprus in order to fall in love with its tasty and fresh cuisine.
