Uefa Cup, Cyprus

Some Tottenham fans are looking forward to a holiday in the sun, as their team is set to travel to Cyprus for the first round of the Uefa Cup.

The north London side have been drawn against Anorthosis Famagusta, from the south-east of the island, in the first round of the competition.

Spurs will travel to Cyprus on October 4th having played the first leg in London on two weeks earlier.

The game will be played at the Antonis Papadopoulos stadium near Larnaca, the stadium has a capacity of 10,000.

The temperatures in the area are still expected to be in the high 20s even though it is so late in the holiday season, so fans might be able to see a good game of football as well as taking an autumn break in the beautiful sunshine of Cyprus.

Anorthosis Famagusta are coached by Timuri Ketsbaia, a former Newcastle United player. Their biggest result came when they defeated Turkish outfit Trabzonspor 3-2 on aggregate in the second qualifying round for the Uefa Champions League in 2005.

Their best known player is Marian Pahars - who will be well known to Spurs fans from his days as a Southampton player from 1999-2006.
