Try 'one of Europe's finest golf experiences' on a Cyprus villa holiday

Britons planning a Cyprus villa holiday in the future will have the opportunity to try what the island's tourism agency describes as "one of Europe's finest golf experiences".

A par 71, 18-hole golf course designed by six-time Major winner Sir Nick Faldo is set to open in Paphos in the autumn.

Elea Golf Club will be part of Elea Estate, a new tourism development that will boast other features including a range of dining establishments and spa facilities.

Sports fans can visit the site during a Cyprus villa holiday later this year or in 2011 to play a round of golf in a striking setting that boasts views of the Mediterranean Sea, olive trees and wildlife including birds of prey, lizards and butterflies.

Introducing the development, Sir Nick said: "This golf course certainly has the potential to play a pivotal role in establishing this part of the world as a leading European golf destination.

"When we designed the golf course at Elea Golf Club we decided to put the emphasis on thoughtful, rather than big-hitting, golf and there are plenty of strategic riddles for the golfer to explore and unravel over all 18 holes."

Paphos is located in the west of the island and is a highly popular destination for Cyprus villa holidays.
