Travellers urged to visit beaches on Cyprus holidays

Holiday makers who will be visiting Paphos during a Cyprus villa break are being encouraged to take advantage of the beach and seafront facilities on offer in the area.

Nicos Similides, president of the committee responsible for managing and promoting beaches in Paphos, said a campaign had been launched to raise awareness of the city's coastal areas at an international level, the Cyprus Mail reported.

The committee has teamed up with municipal authorities and the Cyprus Tourism Organisation to launch the initiative and ensure that the message regarding local beaches gets to as many people as possible.

People planning a Cyprus holiday during the spring could benefit from the fact that applications have been submitted for three beaches in Paphos to open from the end of April, six weeks earlier than usual.

Mr Similides also revealed a possible proposal for the Ta Bania bathing area in Kato Paphos to be left open throughout the year.

Lloyds TSB carried out a survey recently which found that visiting the beach and enjoying some sun is the top priority for nearly half (45 per cent) of British people planning an overseas holiday this year.
