Tombs of the Kings: Cyprus
The tombs are underground and are thought to date back to the fourth century BC.
Carved from solid rock, some of the findings create a map of history.
The Paphian tradition of including Phodian amphorae among the burial offerings has left manufacturing stamps on handles of amphorae, making it possible to give them a date, and begin to understand the chronology or the Mediterranean.
Holidaymakers wanting to see the tombs will not be disappointed by the Doric columns or the frescoed walls that decorate the burial chambers, as well as learning about the history of the area.
The yellow coloured tombs sometimes imitate the style of houses and they were excavated in the late 1970s and the 1980s by the now director of antiquities of the Republic of Cyprus, Dr Sophocles Hadjisawas.
Important officials, rather than kings, were buried in the tombs but the name comes from the magnificence of the site.
Leaving your villa to enjoy the experience of the tombs is a certainty for any visit to Paphos.
