Take a dip in the Baths of Aphrodite on a Cyprus holiday
Tourists can immerse themselves in Greek mythology on their Cyprus holidays and one place offering a special touch of magic is the Baths of Aphrodite.
Legend has it that the Goddess of Love used to bathe in these waters near Polis, which are surrounded by sweet-smelling flowers and shady fig trees.
She is also said to have met her lover Adonis here for the first time.
The water in the pool is said to have rejuvenating qualities and it is believed that those who swim in them will be blessed with eternal youth and beauty.
Whether this is true remains to be seen, but a quick dip is sure to be refreshing in the heat of the Cypriot sun.
The baths can be accessed on foot by following one of the many nature trails in the area - the Aphrodite Trail being one of the most popular.
For those feeling a little peckish after their trek, there is a restaurant, aptly named the Baths of Aphrodite, close to the famous site.
Tourists renting Cyprus villas in Polis will be able to get to the baths easily. This small town offers a real taste of traditional Cypriot culture and is home to a number of tavernas, restaurants and cafes.
