Snowfall attracts skiers to Cyprus
Brits scheduled to jet off on villa holidays in Cyprus over the next few days may want to consider visiting the island's ski slopes.
According to the Cyprus Mail, people have been "flocking to the mountains" to enjoy the recent snowfall that has been experienced on Troodos in the past few weeks.
Skiing or snowboarding may be a fun activity for those visiting the country, with manager of the Cyprus Ski Federation and Club Lambros Lambrou noting many individuals have tried their hand at the pastime despite never having had lessons.
He said many tourists have taken advantage of the fact the island means you can be "half an hour away from the sea and also half an hour from the mountains".
Skiing was first introduced to Cyprus in 1934, with the first ski club founded in 1947 and a ski lift built in the same year on the eastern face of Mount Olympus.
