Ryanair touches down with first Cyprus holiday makers
Budget airline Ryanair has completed its first flight to the Mediterranean holiday destination of Cyprus.
The Irish carrier touched down at Larnaca Airport yesterday (November 3rd) to a special welcome from officials, reports the Financial Mirror.
Airport bosses had even had a cake made for the moment, with the flag of Cyprus shown in Ryanair's traditional colours.
The jet had landed in the resort after taking off from the Belgian capital of Brussels, a route the airline's sales and marketing manager Melissa Corrigan says it is "very excited" about.
''We are sure we will do a great job in Cyprus, we want to invest here and to grow up here and we know that ... we can have some good relationships," she adds.
The service also gives tourists planning a holiday in Cyprus another option when it comes to selecting a method of travel.
One famous face to visit the island in recent weeks was Sir Paul McCartney, with the ex-Beatle pictured by the Daily Mail enjoying a break there with his daughter.
