Research tipping before taking flights to Cyprus villas
An issue that seems to be tripping up holiday makers journeying abroad, such as to Cyprus villas, is the issue of tipping.
In fact, a study that was conducted by International Currency Exchange (ICE) has found that bewilderment over how much to tip is leading to 65 per cent of people giving too much to their hosts.
However, different countries adopt varying norms when it comes to leaving tips, a point that should be taken into account by tourists.
For example, French service staff will typically request just a five per cent tip, while those in the US and Canada will probably want to add another 20 per cent to their payment when in a restaurant or taxi.
Joanna Williams, head of marketing at ICE, noted: "Tipping varies from country to country, leaving many travellers in a complete muddle and tempted to over-tip on holiday to avoid embarrassment."
When the problem of paying for meals and taxi fares is settled, those staying in Cyprus villas have been urged by the North Cyprus Tourism Centre to take trips to the northern side of the island for an array of exciting attractions.
