Protaras is a 'rising star'

TripAdvisor has selected Protaras as one of the top ten destinations in the whole world to visit in 2009.

Villa holiday makers who have already visited the resort may say that it is about time that Protaras got some true international recognition, or they may be kicking themselves that their little secret is out.

The area is growing ever more popular with both families and beach enthusiasts and is said to offer everything that you could want from a holiday, including sun, sea, sand and superb array of shops, restaurants and bars.

Watersport enthusiasts may try their luck at Konnos Bay while the less adventurous can take the weight off their feet and unwind at a beachfront cafe on the famed Fig Tree Bay, one the most popular beaches on the whole island.

Just a few hundred metres off the coast is even a small island, which is often explored by swimmers looking for adventure.
