Paphos festival "a cultural treat" for Cyprus holiday makers
This year's Paphos Aphrodite Festival is set to serve up "a cultural treat" for Cyprus holiday makers with a passion for opera, according to one publication.
The Financial Mirror says that the event - which takes place against the backdrop of the castle at Paphos between September 3rd and 5th - will see the Opera of the Slovak National Theatre perform Puccini's La Boheme.
First performed in the late 19th century, the popular opera tells the tale of four poor friends who manage to live carefree lives in spite of their lack of money.
Local performers such as soprano Stella Georgiou and Kyriakos Sophocleous will take part in the show, which will be performed in Italian with English and Greek subtitles.
As well as the opera, those staying at a villa in Cyprus may want to take in other sights around Paphos, such as the city's famous mosaics and the House of Dionysus, a restored villa believed to have belonged to a wealthy citizen in the Roman era.
