New CTO campaign, Cyprus
The Cyprus Tourist Organisation (CTO) has announced a wide-ranging overhaul of its advertising campaigns, through which it aims to attract yet more cheap holiday and package holiday makers.
A total of £14 million is to be spent on marketing the island, the organisation said last week.
The campaign is to be executed across several key European markets, including the UK, Germany and Sweden, with around £2 million to be spent in the UK alone.
According to latest statistics from the CTO, around 965,000 tourists arrived on Cyprus from January-June this year - confirming the tourism industry as one of the most important parts of the island's economy.
Of this figure, over 500,000 were holiday makers from the UK.
The CTO also announced that it was currently seeking bids from media agencies to conduct the campaign, marketing director Michalis Metaxas told Cyprus News Agency.
