Marathon running is not all Cyprus has to offer

But the event is not just for the athletes, crowds can cheer runners on or take part themselves.

For keen runners a 26-mile marathon is staged while a half marathon also takes place meaning active holidaymakers can try their luck.

Those who fancy taking part in a more relaxed fashion can aim to cover the ten kilometre run.

Holiday makers who come to cheer the runners on can also enjoy the route, which even when walked, paints a beautiful and scenic picture of the region.

Following from Petre tou Romiou, or the birth place of Aphrodite, the route follows the seafront road towards the Medieval Fort Square.

Paphos has lots of culture to attract visitors including an old and new town giving holiday makers a chance to experience both the ancient and the more recent aspects of life on the island.
