Half Marathon, Cyprus

The Cypriot half marathon takes place around the Pathos coastline on 25th November 2007 and holiday makers who are keen on walking holidays or fancy running will find it hard to stay away.

The Cyprus Health Runners Club organises the event annually, and anyone wishing to run can enter via an entry form on the club's website and must be in by November 15th.

Runners must be over sixteen, but there is a fun run for younger athletes that is only five kilometres.

The organisers describe the route as "undulating, and fairly even", taking runners along the sea front of Paphos and near to its harbour.

For those aspiring to return to their villa triumphant, there are medals, certificates, and t-shirts on offer, and a cash prize of CY£750 for men and CY£550 for women.

Music is played throughout the event and free beer, wine, juice, and fruit are served at the finish and into the evening there is a pasta party and a gala dinner with dancing and prize winners.

To enter the race costs CY£20 and competitors will be in training to get ready for the big event.

Holiday makers will enjoy leaving their villa to take walks along the beautiful coastline of Cyprus and if they do not fancy running they are still able to enjoy the festivities the event brings to the area.
