Experience some island history on a Cyprus villa holiday
The Pierides Museum contains precious folkloric and archaeological items collected by over five generations of the Pierides family.
Visitors can see a veritable treasure trove of objects representing 9,000 years of the island's history.
Some of the items include rare prehistoric ceramics as well as antique maps of Cyprus, embroideries, woven cloths, carved wooden furniture, jewellery and traditional costumes dating back to the 18th and 20th centuries.
The collection was started by Demetrios Pierides, who died in 1895 and has since then been continued by his descendants.
After a wander around the museum tourists may want to retire to their Cyprus villas, many of which are located on the beautiful west coast, just a short journey away from the main resorts.
