Demand for Cyprus holidays 'leads to extra flights'

Cyprus is such a popular holiday destination with Britons that one airline is putting on a host of new flights to cope with the demand.

Monarch says it will launch additional services to Larnaca throughout April to ensure as many people enjoy the Mediterranean island over the Easter break as possible.

This is on top of its existing plan to open a route between Paphos and the British airports of London Gatwick and Manchester.

"We have been astonished by the soaring demand for Monarch flights in April, which we believe is being driven by the proximity of Easter to the additional bank holiday," says the carrier's managing director Kevin George.

And it is not only holidays in Cyprus that can be accessed with Monarch flights, as the company also flies to the Algarve, Spain, Tenerife and Lanzarote.

Skyscanner this week named Cyprus as one of its bargain destinations currently, with flights available from just 79.
