Cyprus villas 'to bask in cleaner beaches'
Holiday makers taking trips to Cyprus villas in the near future are likely to be able to relax on cleaner beaches during their stay.
This is after the Cyprus Green Party's youth branch carried out a series of cleanups to coastal areas around the Mediterranean island as part of an annual campaign, the Cyprus Mail reported.
Beaches found in Larnaca, Paphos and Paralimni were among those to benefit from the efforts of the volunteers, to make the scenery more aesthetically pleasing.
A statement by the Cyprus Green Party noted: "The public response to all beach-cleaning efforts was immense."
However, despite the success of the campaign – which carried the slogan 'Clean beaches, Free beaches' – holiday makers may want to take more care of the island's coastline in the future.
This is after bulky pieces of tar, broken bottles and ropes were among the hazardous items found by the youths.
Recently, Brits were told of the appeal of a stay in villas in Cyprus after Ayia Napa's coastline was awarded top spot in a TripAdvisor's survey to determine the top ten beach destinations in Europe.
