Cyprus villas: Majority of Brits meet pushy traders abroad

Brits who are booking holiday villas this summer have been told of the issue of pushy traders in many hot spots.

New research conducted by online travel agent Sunshine.co.uk has found that 67 per cent of British holiday makers had encountered these types of sellers when on their last getaway.

The most popular pushy traders met when venturing abroad were street and market merchants, with 22 per cent of respondents coming across these.

Restaurants (19 per cent), gift shops (16 per cent), technology stores (nine per cent) and excursion agents (four per cent) were other places where traders of this nature were found.

Chris Brown, co-founder of Sunshine.co.uk, commented: "At the end of the day, they are just doing their job, but tourists shouldn't feel pressured into buying anything they don't really want or need."

Meanwhile, a recent study by Eurocamp and family website Netmums has found that 40 per cent of holiday makers feel a getaway is less enjoyable if their toddler is not having complete fun in the destination.
