Cyprus villas: Brits delaying summer holidays

Many Brits look to be delaying their overseas getaways, such as to Cyprus villas, until the autumn, if new research is to be believed.

According to sunshine.co.uk, there has been a 21 per cent increase in holiday bookings during the upcoming autumn season compared to the same period in 2010.

Meanwhile, the independent travel agents also found that that when asked 'Are you holidaying later than normal this year, for example in autumn or winter, instead of summer?' 56 per cent of holiday makers replied 'yes'.

The main reason for this decision is that respondents believe delaying holidays to later in the year will make for cheaper deals, with 42 per cent citing this response.

Predicting the summer to be hot in the UK (37 per cent) and work commitments (21 per cent) were also popular motives.

Chris Brown, co-founder of sunshine.co.uk, commented: "The recent spout of warm weather here in the UK has obviously made many people optimistic about the impending British summertime."

Those travelling to villas in Cyprus have been given more opportunities to do so, as Greek airline Aegean now operates direct daily flights from London Heathrow to Larnaca.
