Cyprus to become 'golfing haven'
The Cypriot government has reportedly granted permission for 14 golf courses to be constructed on the island.
Beforehand there were only a handful of courses in Cyprus and the resort of Polis is one that has been earmarked to be home to one of the developments.
Polis is full to the brim with traditional Cypriot culture and life here travels at a slow pace - revolving around the main town square with its array of fish restaurants, cafes and tavernas - so it could be the ideal place to mix up some relaxation with a round or two of golf.
According to Paul Collins, property editor at BuyAssociation.co.uk, the whole island will benefit from the plans.
"There have always been golf courses in Cyprus and it has always been a popular reason for people going over there," he says.
