Cyprus selected for the 'Olympics'

Between June 1st and June 6th, those renting a villa in Cyprus will be able to see the XIII Games of the Small States of Europe - an Olympic-style competition for smaller nations.

To be able to compete the nation must have a population of less than one million - so Andorra, Cyprus, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Malta and San Marino will all battle it to be the biggest and the best.

Cyprus' capital Nicosia will host the majority of the events, although Limassol and the National Park of Machairas will also provide venues, according to organisers.

Holiday makers can watch events such as athletics, basketball, beach volleyball, gymnastics, swimming and tennis before returning to their villa and private pool to reminisce about how they stormed to first place at the school sport's day egg and spoon race.
