Cyprus holidays 'particularly popular this summer'

Holidays on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus are sure to be very popular this summer, if the results of one airline's sale period are to be believed.

Monarch reveals it has enjoyed a 165 per cent surge in the number of seats it has sold to travel to the destination during the hottest months of 2011.

It concludes Cyprus is one of its most desired locations, shortly before the Biggest Ever Sale offer reaches an end.

Hugh Morgan, managing director of tour operations at the carrier, says: "Monarch's Biggest Ever Sale has certainly hit the spot with customers this month and overall we've seen holiday bookings increase by a stunning 51 per cent."

People who would like to organise their stay in a villa in Cyprus may be wise to confirm flights during the current sale.

Cyprus was the holiday destination of choice for ex-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney last year, as he was pictured by the Daily Mail relaxing in the country.
