Cyprus holidays 'not just for beach lovers'

Cyprus holidays are not just for those who love the beach, according to one travel journalist who claimed the country offers a lot for the active.

In an article for the Sun newspaper, Joel Cooper said Cyprus is well-known for traditional seaside holidays with its 49 Blue Flag beaches.

However, he insisted it is also becoming a popular destination for people who enjoy getting involved in activities and sports while they are away.

For example, there are plenty of stables on the island where tourists can go horse riding along the beautiful coastline.

Mr Cooper said he enjoyed trekking just north of Paphos, soaking up the sunshine and taking in the scenery on his journey.

The Troodos Mountains in Cyprus are also popular among cyclists, who can choose from gentle trails to more steep climbs.

Of course even activity-loving holiday makers appreciate beautiful beaches and, according to Mr Cooper, the best one can be found in Coral Bay.

Families can rent a Cyprus villa in Coral Bay, which is just a short drive from Paphos and within easy reach of the Troodos Mountains.

The resort itself offers a wide variety of local restaurants, or tourists can head to the nearby village of Peyia to sample some truly traditional Greek Cypriot meze.
