Cyprus holidays could be enhanced by visit to cultural centre
Families embarking on a Cyprus villa holiday next will have no shortage of cultural offerings to keep them entertained.
With the island playing host to the Limassol carnival, the flower festivals of Larnaka and Pafos and the Larnaka International Festival of music, Theatre and Dance, holiday makers can be sure of finding something to do away from the beach no matter what time of year they arrive.
Now, the Cyprus Mail reports that plans to build the new Cyprus Cultural Centre will be going ahead, with building work expected to commence in November.
This is according to Tassos Angelis, the centre's general manager, who suggested that the island's ministry of finance may help to fund the project.
Once completed, the building will host dance, opera and musical theatre performances, which are likely to attract both locals and holiday makers.
"It is going to be the steam engine for cultural development in Cyprus and in the arts," Mr Angelis told the newspaper.
"It will be the gem of Nicosia and Cyprus and will make Cyprus proud."
