Cyprus holiday offers mix of heat and history
Those travelling on holiday to Cyprus in the coming months may be wise to spend a day away from their luxury villa to experience the ancient city of Limassol.
The spot's central area is an intriguing mix of old and new, with a brand new €350 million (£289 million) marina development springing up alongside a host of historic highlights, reports the Financial Times.
For example, taking a look at the medieval castle where Richard the Lionheart married Berengaria of Navarre is a must.
From here the new harbour is visible, while restaurants line the bottom of the fortress walls, offering numerous options for those looking for somewhere stylish to eat.
With approximately 330 days of sunshine each year, according to the newspaper, a Cyprus holiday may be just right for those looking to top up their tan while the UK gets colder.
Another reason to visit the island is for golf, with up to six courses said to have either been granted permission or be in the process of earning it.
