Cyprus holiday makers 'set to see more flights'

Cyprus holiday makers may soon be able to choose from even more flight options than those currently available following reports that Ryanair is launching a new route to the island.

According to the Financial Mirror, the low-cost airline is set to begin flights to Larnaca, with the Cyprus Mail suggesting that these will start in November.

Spokesman for Hermes Airports - which owns Larnaca and Paphos airports - Adamos Aspris said that the news represents a "very important development" for Cyprus's tourism industry.

It is thought that Ryanair has been working with Hermes Airports and the Cyprus Tourism Organisation for years to reach an agreement over the new route.

The new flights could encourage more Britons to go on an autumn or winter Cyprus holiday.

Sophie Butler of the Telegraph recently recommended the Mediterranean island for late breaks as its climate remains warm towards the end of the year and the tourist crowds tend to get smaller as the months pass from the end of summer.
