Cyprus changes to the Euro
The European Union announced that Cyprus, along with Malta, has completed the preparations for the switch over to the Euro and banks were now stocked up with the currency.
Cyprus will use Euros from January 1st 2008 and with Malta the total number of EU member states now using the currency comes to 15.
Visiting Cyprus in the new holiday season will not only provide holiday makers with a chance to use some left over Euros from previous holidays, but will also offer an opportunity to explore further back into the country's history.
Commonly associated with Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty and love, Cyprus is the place where legend states she was born.
A large rock close to the coastal cliffs near Paphos is thought to be the place where the goddess was born.
