Casinos to be introduced in Cyprus?
People could soon be able to enjoy some friendly gambling while staying in Cyprus villas, under new plans.
The country's finance minister Kikis Kazamias acknowledged that legislation is being drawn out so that casinos can be legally erected across the island.
Once finalised, a specific proposition for such plans will be put before the parliament in Cyprus by the government.
Speaking to the House Commerce Committee, Mr Kazamias said: "Many among us would probably never enter such establishments during our lifetime, but this does not mean that we should not respond to the needs of the age, taking into consideration the public interest."
If the calls for casinos to be built in Cyprus are granted, it will represent a u-turn on the country's government policy, which has long contested the construction of such venues.
In the meantime, people visiting villas in Cyprus have the chance to explore such remarkable sites as the Local Museum of Ancient Idalion and the Folklore Museum Aradippou 'Kostas Kaimakliotis'.
