Book a September Cyprus holiday to enjoy palouze festivals
Holiday makers looking to visit Cyprus and sample of its local traditions may want to head to the island in September.
During this month, villages across Cyprus's wine-producing regions host a number of festivals to mark the production of a local sweet call palouze.
Palouze is made using grape juice and corn flour and served with a dressing of almonds or other nuts. It has a jelly-like texture and is non-alcoholic - making it suitable for kids.
Some of the villages that hold palouze festivals include Lofou, Arsos and Vouni.
Grown-ups will also be able to enjoy a host of local wines while on a Cyprus holiday.
The Cyprus Mail recently highlighted one winery, Fikardos, which is situated in the village of Mesogi near Paphos.
Writer George Kassianos praised the establishment for wines including the 2009 Fikardos Xilogefiro Chardonnay Fume and the 2008 Fikardos Shiraz.
Visitors to Mesogi can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding area - including Paphos - on their Cyprus holidays.
