Book a Cyprus villa holiday and get festive

Christmas is probably the biggest celebration of all in Cyprus, so those planning holidays on the island over the festive period will be in for a treat.

According to the official Cyprus tourism website, the Christmas spirit can be felt everywhere, with festivals and parties being held in numerous towns and villages.

Gala dinners and dancing will be organised, allowing holiday makers to enjoy seasonal traditions Greek-style.

There will be plenty of festive food goodies on offer, including melomakarouna - spicy buns covered in honey syrup.

Those heading to Cyprus before Christmas can do some shopping on the island, either in one of its city centre malls or at its traditional markets.

"Explore the Cyprus countryside, which has a diverse wealth of its own or go sightseeing and discover magical destinations," the website recommends.

Families renting Cyprus villas in Coral Bay will be in an excellent location to enjoy the festivities.

Just a short drive away is the ancient capital of Paphos with its lively nightlife, while the village of Peyia is also close by, offering an opportunity to sample some local Greek Cypriot meze.
