Beautiful weather 'is major attraction of Cyprus holiday'

One of the most common reasons for choosing a holiday in Cyprus is the beautiful weather that the country is blessed with for the vast majority of the year.

With this in mind, another factor behind the island's success as a tourist destination is its provision of high-class beaches, reports the Belfast Telegraph.

The rich sand is dark, almost black, in colour, producing a unique holiday experience.

Meanwhile, a further draw towards the country comes in the shape of its claim to fame as the birthplace of the Greek goddess Aprodite, with her rock still found just east of Paphos.

"Rumour has it that if you swim around the Rock naked, you will be fertile for life. Other people claim that to swim around the rock brings good luck," suggests the newspaper.

A holiday in Cyprus was the choice of ex-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney earlier this year, as the Daily Mail pictured the musician enjoying a break on the island with his daughter.
