Autumn 'an ideal time' for a Cyprus holiday
Autumn is an ideal time to visit the Paphos area of Cyprus, according to an article in the Sunday Times Travel Magazine.
It names Paphos as one of the six best places to go for some late summer sun.
With its "blue skies, balmy days and seas still warm enough for wallowing", it could make a perfect autumn holiday destination, it states.
And it adds that since the high summer season is now over, most of the crowds will have dispersed from the western coast around Paphos.
This means holiday makers can explore at their leisure and visit the major tourist hotspots without getting caught up in the throng.
The publication recommends visiting the Roman mosaics, the Tombs of the Kings and the Pillar of St Paul, before heading to a local restaurant to enjoy some traditional Cypriot meze.
For beach lovers, there are plenty of sandy stretches to choose from around Paphos.
"The most popular beach is Coral Bay, but for seclusion, try Agios Georgios cove, with its crystalline waters to snorkel in," the magazine states.
Cyprus villas in the popular resort of Coral Bay could act as an ideal base from which to explore the Paphos area.
The ancient capital is just a short drive or bus ride away, while the village of Peyia, where tourists can enjoy a meal in a traditional taverna, is also close by.
