'Get off your sunbed and celebrate Lazarus' on a Cyprus holiday

Taking place on April 11th, eight days before the Greek Orthodox Church celebrates Easter, Larnaca and its people come out in force to celebrate their patron saint Lazarus.

Lazarus is said to have been raised from the dead by Jesus and visited Cyprus soon afterwards.

According to Whatsonwhen, the townspeople of Larnaca celebrate the feast day "with a lively procession" - and you could be there to see it if you can resurrect yourself from the sunbed beside your luxury villa's private pool.

Larnaca is found on the eastern side of the island and is a short drive from the family resort of Protaras - which boasts the immensely popular Fig Tree Bay.
