'Cosy cocktails' in Cyprus

A British travel writer has praised Cyprus for its "cosy cocktail bars" as well as other assets certain to appeal to villa holiday makers planning a trip to the island.

Steven Hughes wrote on getreading.co.uk that Cyprus was the perfect escape from a wet English summer.

Paying tribute to its ice cream parlours, Greek restaurants and gift shops, he was also impressed by its temperature, which is consistently in the mid-20s by spring and the mid-30s in summer.

Mr Hughes was describing his experience in Limassol, the Greek part of Cyprus' largest coastal city.

He described it as quiet and relaxing - characteristics of an ideal villa holiday - and noted that tourists often miss it for the better known places.

In addition, he observed the area's "fantastic fish restaurants" and traditional Cypriot bars along the harbour.

Cyprus has been described as the ideal place for a beach holiday due to its long and expansive coastline.

Visitcyprus.com also suggests that people on a villa holiday in the region may wish to try a variety of watersports, or visit a water park, while snorkeling or diving are also options.

Cyprus can also be used as a base for a cruise to nearby countries.
