Visit world's first advanced civilisation on holiday in Crete

People who take a holiday in Crete will have an opportunity to experience the remains of some of the world's first advanced civilisation.

According to Nadine Hallak, marketing and PR executive at Cheapflights Media, the Greek island was home to Europe's initial skilled dwellers.

"As the first advanced civilisation in Europe, Crete brought the world the stories and epic poems about King Minos, the Minotaur and Icarus - stories which are still studied and enjoyed today," she states.

The expert goes on to recommend a series of sites as must-visits in order to enjoy the full history of the island, such as the classic archaeological venues at Phaistos, Gortys and Knossos.

As well as being a perfect holiday spot for history buffs, Crete may also be seen as ideal by sun-seekers who like to break up the topping up of their tan with a little culture.

Perhaps another reason to visit Crete is the decreasing price of accommodation, with a recent trivago study concluding costs have fallen by 26 per cent in the last month.
