Tasty cuisine 'likely to be highlight of Crete holiday'
Travellers searching for a relaxing location with plenty to see and delicious local dishes on offer may find all they require on a holiday in Crete.
Nadine Hallak, marketing and PR executive at Cheapflights Media, identifies the island as one that is famous for its cuisine, much of which is made with produce grown within its borders.
"Try the local restaurants that offer traditional Greek delicacies, often served with homemade wines and olive oil products," she advises.
According to the expert, about 20 per cent of wine made in Greece is from Crete, emphasising the quality of the island's vineyards and the skills of its people.
Ms Hallak goes on to note olive oil is arguably the signature product of the region, with the liquid even used to make soap and other gifts that can be perfect for Christmas presents.
Recent research by trivago found the cost of accommodation in Crete is falling, with a 26 per cent drop reported in October alone.
