Take a walk through history when in villas in Crete
People who opt to book up villas in Crete have plenty of historical venues to explore during their stay on the Greek island.
The destination is home to an array of interesting buildings which could each make for an ideal day out for all the family.
For example, Brits staying in Crete villas may be keen to take a trip to the Palace of Knossos, which is the oldest settlement on the island.
Once owned by the Minoan civilisation, the building was excavated in the 20th century and allows attendees to check out an assortment of Roman mosaics and a series of Minoan homes.
Meanwhile, those located closer to Iraklion should not miss out on a visit to the city's Archaeological Museum during their getaway.
The building gives families the opportunity to gaze upon a host of eye-catching archaeological finds which stretch to all corners of Crete.
Some of the main attractions include historical gold rings, faience figurines and an attractive bull-leaping fresco.
