Stay at a cheap villa in Crete and witness a WW2 salvage
A Messerschmitt Bf 109 is to be raised in the near future in the Maleme region, with the aim of adding them to the neighbouring Air Force Museum.
The plane is one of over 200 which were shot down during the Nazi invasion of the islands during the second world war and, according to reports, it should still be in good working order, with all its insignia and parts of the fuselage and engine intact.
By staying at a cheap villa in Crete - for instance, in Kalami, Chania - holiday makers will also be spoilt for choice for sandy beaches and idyllic getaways.
The prefecture of Chania is situated on the western most division of the island and covers an area of 2,376 square kilometres.
Visitors will be pleased to hear that it rarely rains in the area and even in November it is sunny and warm.
