Protect a house when visiting Crete villas
Holiday makers have been given some tips on how to protect their home before they travel on their getaway, such as to villas in Crete.
A writer at TravelBite.co.uk acknowledged that there are many things that can be done to keep burglars away from an empty house.
For one, they advise investing in a security system, as "in a high-tech era, where cell phones do everything but cook you dinner, you have a range of options if you decide to go this route".
Getting friends, neighbours and family to look after a home is another tip given by the writer, as this will make it seem as though the property is still occupied.
Some recommendations include asking someone to mow a lawn if it becomes overgrown, as well as take in any mail that is piling up in a porch.
By doing this, people staying in Crete villas can enjoy such events as the Yakinthia Festival, which comes to the Greek island in July, without needing to worry about activities at home.
