Music festival on a Crete holiday

The first ten days of each August are reserved for music in Paleohora and the small seaside village is taken over the festival.

Holiday makers visiting the festival can expect to listen to the locals compete in song contests as well as staged concerts.

These are usually entertaining affairs on the open stage in the tiny harbour village.

As with most Mediterranean festivals, holiday makers can also expect some dancing, as the music and wine flow.

Alternatively, travellers can spend time relaxing on the beach or taking long walks through the Cretan countryside.

If a peaceful rest is what is required, a day spent by the private pool of a Crete villa is well worth it.
