Look out for some wild tulips on a Crete villa holiday
Crete villa holidays could be a good option this year for people who have a passion for horticulture and fancy trying to find some wild tulips.
Writing in the Telegraph, Sarah Raven revealed that she travelled to the Greek island with her family last year to admire wild flowers while enjoying some time in the sun.
The journalist described her Crete holiday as a "week of plant riches", the highlight of which was a visit to a small hilltop above Spili that was "carpeted with tulips".
Ms Raven described the location as a "spectacular find".
She revealed that her father had discovered the flowers 50 years earlier and given her directions to the site, which had been brought to life by hundreds of vibrant tulips that turned the hillside a soft shade of pink.
People who enjoy getting out and experiencing nature will find plenty to interest them during a Crete villa holiday, including the picturesque beach of Vai, which is lined by palm trees and situated near cliffs and other features.
