Leave your family villa in Crete and visit the Arhanes wine festival
During August, the village of Arhanes celebrates its excellent grape production with a festival that lasts five days.
Plenty of wine-tasting and a general festive atmosphere will greet holiday makers taking a family villa in Crete.
Live entertainment and parties are also on the agenda for those that attend the event and travellers will also find that Crete offers another wine festival earlier in the summer months.
Every July the Municipal Gardens host the Cretan wine Festival and similar events such as folklore music and plenty of free performances are on offer when the sun goes down.
Those not attracted by wine tasting will find a wealth of other activities to enjoy.
Many museums and archaeological sites are located throughout the island and visitors can spend time exploring the historical surroundings.
Relaxing by the villa pool or long country walks are another option for travellers looking to enjoy some fresh air.
