Holiday in Crete 'is perfect for history buffs'
Tourists with a passion for the past may find no greater option this winter than a holiday in Crete.
Nadine Hallak, marketing and PR executive at Cheapflights Media, says the Greek island offers a plethora of attractions for history fans.
"Anyone interested in ancient or classical history should visit Crete's archaeological sites, such as Knossos, Phaistos and Gortys," she advises.
The destination was Europe's first advanced civilisation, with its early days bringing famous stories such as that of the Minotaur and Icarus.
People with a desire to take a closer look at the spots such fables were based on, as well as a host of other ancient monuments and historic buildings, may find a holiday in Crete is something they would enjoy immensely.
Another benefit of visiting the island at the moment was found by trivago, which recently concluded in its latest report on holiday accommodation that prices in Crete fell by 26 per cent last month.
