Holiday in Crete can be a "gateway to adventure"
The island of Crete is the ideal place for a relaxing break in the sun this winter, if one travel writer is to be believed.
Heather Ahmed, penning a review for the Telegraph, says the historic Greek resort is peaceful and idyllic.
She notes the town of Sissi, on Crete's north-east coast, is a spot to look out, with warmth, great food and perfect boating conditions all but assured.
There are plenty of restaurants on the roads surrounding the harbour that offer travellers a suitable way to try out some of the island's famous dishes and drinks.
And the resort is not the only place to head to while on holiday in Crete.
"Sleepy Sissi is also the gateway to adventure – it's a short bus ride to chic Agios Nikolaos, with its pavement cafes, classy shops and boat trips to spellbinding Spinalonga," explains Ms Ahmed.
X Factor star Olly Murs was recently pictured by the Sun enjoying a break in Crete with his mates.
