Explore the longest gorge in Europe while in Crete villas
People who are planning on taking a trip to Crete villas and are hoping to learn more about the destination should seek out Samaria Gorge and Gortyn.
Both sites are found in mainland Crete and could make for a couple of exciting days out exploring more of the popular Greek island.
Located in west Crete, Samaria Gorge is based within the White Mountains and is acknowledged as being the longest gorge in Europe, at a length of 18 kilometres.
People passing through this location can seek out 450 different varieties of plants, as well as seeing an abundance of wildlife.
Old houses and the 14th century church of Osia Maria can also be looked around in the nearby Samaria village.
Meanwhile, Gortyn was once seen as the as the capital of the province of Crete during the island's Roman rule.
Holiday makers who visit the city can explore a history which dates back at least 6,000 years, with a highlight being the resort's awe-inspiring archaeological site.
