Enjoy the Matala Festival on a Crete holiday

People who are planning a Crete holiday for later this year may wish to schedule their trip around the upcoming Matala Festival.

Taking place from the 2nd to the 4th of June, the festival is to feature beach parties, live music, exhibitions, children's activities and other attractions.

During the 1960s, Matala attracted thousands of young people, and became a cultural hub and icon of the hippie way of life.

The fun-filled festival is designed as a reunion of the hippies who made the beach caves their homes during the sixties and seventies, but is now a cultural event suitable for all ages.

More than 200 artists, musicians and performers will take part in the colourful festival, which embodies the principles of freedom and artistic expression.

The event travels back in time in terms of music, arts and literature, and anyone who was lucky enough to attend Woodstock will find the event extremely nostalgic.
