Crete welcomes the Rethymno Renaissance and Wine Festival
The opening ceremony of the occasion takes place on July 12th and all the crazy culture that Crete has to offer will be on show to holiday makers renting a villa there.
As well as a whole host of musical performances of pieces by J S Bach, Vivaldi and many others, the Natural History Museum of The University of Heraklion will present a temporary exhibition on Mediterranean Panorama.
According to organisers, the exhibition is devoted "to the very important biodiversity of the Mediterranean basin".
The ceremony closes on July 22nd and in between there will be plenty of fancy dress, dance, shows, art and screenings as well as ample wine - all of which will take place in the Erofili Theatre, Fortezza.
A villa in the pretty rural village of Agia Triada in Rethymno could provide the ideal base to take in the festival and explore all that Crete has to offer.
