Crete villa holidays offer a home from home

April 23rd is Saint George's Day and English holiday makers taking a Crete villa holiday will not be the only ones celebrating the English patron saint.

The Church of Asi Gonia Apokoronou, near Rethymno, is where hundreds of Cretan shepherds bring their sheep to be blessed.

By getting their sheep blessed, the shepherds hope to ensure a healthy flock and a prosperous year.

Holiday makers can also try some of the sheep's milk which is given out by the shepherds when they bless their flock.

Visitors to the island will be made to feel very welcome by the locals and holidaying to a family villa in Crete will provide a relaxing break in a warm and laid-back environment.
